48TH BLACK WALNUT FESTIVAL

September 29, 2008
Another Black Walnut Festival has come and gone. What nice weather, you couldn't have ordered much better. Daytime temps were around 80 and fell to around 70 by sundown. The park was crowded most every night. There was a nice breeze at times during the parade Saturday making it nice for the bands and those marching. What a great time of the year. The walnut harvest has begun and Hammons processing plant started buying nuts this morning.

SCHOOL STARTS AUGUST 14

August 06, 2008
The students in the Stockton High School will be in for a real treat when the doors open on the new high school building on August 14. The dedication was held this past Saturday and local residents were able to tour the facility. I was impressed with the Science department, the agriculture departments and the band and music department. The building is very state of the art and should provide many years of service to community. null

SUMMER RAINS OVER STOCKTON LAKE

July 11, 2008
We are still getting a few rains now and again, which are welcomed by most gardners. This time of year the rains have cut off and we are dragging out the hoses to give our tomatoes and other garden goodies a drink. We have showers predicted through the weekend, most likely spotty, but hey it is summer! We have planted one tomato plant and 2 squash plants in a small bed here at the office. By mid August if we are lucky, maybe we'll have a ripe tomato - now is that optimistic?

Stockton Lake Greetings

July 08, 2008
Hello again from Stockton and Land-n-Home Realty. Time marches on and we are half way through another year. Doesn't seem possible. We are going into a much drier weather pattern now that our gardens are finally up and doing good we need those weekly rains. Isn't that the way it works. I do hope everyone had a safe and happy 4th of July. Gas prices along with the cost of all goods has gone up and making it rough for people to take those much needed vacations. Come on down to Stockton and spend the day on the LAKE! Waters are receeding some and the lake looks really inviting. This is truly one of the nicest lakes in Missouri and we would love to share it with you.

Stockton Lake

May 23, 2008
This is typically a big weekend for tourists in and around the Stockton Lake area. Some of the events going on this weekend will be memorial tributes across the county at many of the cemeterys, the annual Lions Club Chicken Stampede on Saturday and the City wide Garage Sale. The weatherman says to look for scattered showers along with some sunshine which will make things heat up and get humid. Summer is just around the corner, school is out and people are ready to vacation and have some much needed time off. So go out there and have a good time and travel safe.

STOCKTON LAKE HAPPENINGS

May 20, 2008
This Saturday, the 24th is the annual Chicken Stampede in downtown Stockton. When you drive into Stockton you will see the smoke for some distance as the chicken is put on the pit to barbecue. This has been an annual event for many years and changes somewhat from year to year, but the taste of that good ol' BBQ stays pretty much the same. There will be garage sales going on as well as numerous other functions including a book sale at the new library. The cemeterys will be having Memorial Services over the weekend.
School is out and everyone is ready to take on the summer. The lake levels are going down and the lake should be a little better to navigate now. Anytime you are on the lake, please observe all the laws and don't drink and boat; always be considerate of others and have a great time whether you are camping, boating, picnicing or sailing.
